I remember being a kid in the 90s and imagining parody versions of films… this looks like one of those. I mean I used to imagine Murph from Problem Child 2 being Dick Jones from Robocop and the preposterous dialogue that would occur.

This… this is worse than that. And it is fucking real.

remind everyone that usa is much closer to russia in being right wing than any other western country, even before trump. usa has always been right wing politically, thats why we had people schumer and jefferies, and all the DINOS, and thats why foreign conservatives(SOuth africa, canada, australia, the flavors of cuban, venezuelans, Vietnamese people) migrate to the USA

It’s absolutely stunning that this is an official letter written by any government official, let alone a country’s president. It reads worse than a 12-year-old’s homework.

Not to mention completely false information included in the letter. What ‘8 PLUS’ wars have you stopped? What do you mean there are no documents? The USA has literally signed an agreement with Denmark to waive all their claims to Greenland. And why are you blaming Norway’s prime minister for you not getting a Nobel peace prize?

I could understand him declaring all this in a public speech. That’s essentially what American politicians do for a living. However, stating such insane claims in a more-or-less private letter seems to suggest that he actually believes any of it. Which I guess is a possibility in the context of a senile, mentally deranged child predator…?

According to The Bulwark, it was reported that this was actually a text Trump sent to the PM (?, I don’t know, someone in Norway’s government), and then the Norwegian government formatted it into a letter for release to the public.

It’s a safe bet that no one else in the US government saw this “official communication” before it went out. I’d go so far as to wager he was alone on the toilet when he sent it.

I mean, he would never do it anyway, writing a letter on an official paper is work, and work is not what he’s known for. Did he send a message from a shitter to the guy he has that writes it on an official paper, or did he send it directly to the intended recepient? Fuck does this matter at this point, both actions has the same political power.

Because if not, then yeah, format and method of communication doesn’t matter here. This is how he governs, by sending tweets and whatever scribbles to some people to then implement.

I’m well past caring about the rest of the world tut-tutting and waiting for American wage slaves to solve an unprecedented global problem. If you’re not out in the streets demanding your government take proactive sanctions and tangible actions you are at least as culpable as any average US dissident who is risking a shit ton more than you. What’s your excuse?

Look at this fucking thread! Suddenly it “getting scary” because the demented old fuck wrote a grade-school level angry letter? It wasn’t scary before because the troops were aimed at internal opposition and third world countries? Give me a fucking break…

          I’m sorry. What?

My excuse? I live in France buddy, do you think it’s on me and my fellow compatriot wageslaves to protest our government in order to make them act against your government? We have our own struggles to contend with if you can believe it, and even if we had the time and energy, how is it our place to try to repair the shit show going on in your country. As to our leaders, the US has been trying to brazenly fuck us for the past year, almost on the daily now, don’t you think if they could do more to defend themselves they would?

«As least as culpable» ? So, maybe more culpable? I don’t even know how to qualify that type of thinking. Again, it’s not my country, I only have to suffer the consequences of what’s going on there like the rest of the world. I guess, sorry there’s an ocean between us? My bad.

          Tut-tutting?

The guy felt the need to apologise on behalf of the US. Except he doesn’t speak on behalf of the US. I appreciate they’re trying to be a good person but what am I supposed to do with it, is it supposed to make us feel better? Because to me it doesn’t. Thanks but it’s a meaningless gesture. Is it supposed to make them feel better? In which case, OK cool whatever. But I’m sorry my expressing a feeling of lassitude about American commentary adressed at us, Europeans and the reest of the world, upset you that much. I guess I’ll make sure to do better next time and put in efforts in my spare time to try help you fix your country for you?

Am I to travel all the way from the north of Scotland to London because Americans can’t keep their house in order? Is the rest of the world meant to do similar?

Americans have loudly and proudly derided other countries for decades. Claiming they’re the best at everything, more freedom, more money, only country to have touched the moon, fuck yeah, than the rest of the world. The Land of the Brave. The Land of the Free. Freedom™. Freedom to carry weaponry on the off chance you have a tyrannical government that needs overthrown.

And yet we’re the ones being told off for getting annoyed that we all must suffer because of your internal politics?

Do you not think other parts of the world have their own struggles to deal with? Their own political campaigns for/against various things?

Neat, what have they actually fucking done? They could freeze/sieze the assets of any of the fascists backing this regime at any time. They could issue arrest warrants for any of these republican congressmen doing their fascist world tours. They could shut down access to captured American social media platforms. Are they doing any of that? Because they could sign a piece of paper and have those checked off by tomorrow.

Am I to travel all the way from the north of Scotland to London

😂😂😂😂😂 It’s 40 hours minimum for the 4 million people in Los Angeles to reach Washington DC. Or are Americans supposed to get a critical mass of opposition to the Capitol on commercial flights; just checking their torches and pitchforks before takeoff?

But a ten hour trip to London is too much? Couldn’t be bothered to take a weekend flight and spend <$150 to make a physical display of your displeasure?

            Americans have loudly and proudly…

Beautiful straw man you’ve got there. Too bad the 90% of the country that doesn’t watch fox news hasn’t held anything close to those opinions for 30+ years. You can just look this shit up, we live in 2026.

No wonder your country is fucked.

The arrogant, self obsessed, cultural and historical ignorance is astounding.

I try not to prejudge or stereotype people but Americans make it really fucking difficult sometimes. Y’all so often think other people of the world have never interacted with any of you before. That we’ve not grown up with your culture shoved into our faces along with our own. That we’ve not witnessed your politics, both foreign and domestic, as much as you have.

We’ve witnessed your atrocities, we’ve seen your population do nothing. We’ve seen your obsession with money, power, guns, and greed. Not every American, obviously, but enough of you that as a nation that is what you are known for. We’ve seen your multiple wars. We’ve seen your complicity in genocide. We’ve seen your population at large do fuck all. We’ve seen the slow and painfully obvious descent into fascism and your population at large continuing about their day as if nothing is wrong.

We all have issues. Many country’s issues are even caused by your country. Many country’s issues are worse than yours. Why would we deal with yours before our own?

This is internal American politics. Unless you want to be invaded, this is an American problem for Americans to deal with.

Is it shit? Absofuckinglutely. But life is shit for many around the world. America has been largely insulated from that, and now that you’re experiencing it firsthand you expect the world to come running? Good fucking luck.

You’re one hundred percent free to take that position, but it’s not arrogance when half this thread is Europeans looking down their nose as if they have any fucking clue what’s happening in the USA today. Spare me the lectures if it’s an internal problem.

I don’t want to read a single comment panicking over a Trump tweet or letter. I don’t want any more debates with EU commenters pretending they know the US constitution, laws, election process, or insitutional corruption better than I do. I don’t want to hear from anyone who’s reading headlines from halfway around the world and dismissing my experiences (“just do something”). I don’t wanna hear shit from any armchair revolutionaries living in countries where the police can’t even carry pepper spray.

If you all can’t agree to do that then see my original comment: fuck off and take your own political initiative. Maybe you’ll start to understand why this isn’t some inconvenient internal problem when the largest military in the world is blockading your ports and kidnapping your leaders. “Good fucking luck”

I’m not commenting on your response specifically I’m saying your argument here doesn’t make any sense.

Everyone has a constant feed on what’s happening in America, not just the news and propaganda outlets but the direct social media reports of thousands of day to day people.

Probably best to avoid all of the topics that are very obviously things you don’t want to see the comments on.

Living in a country gives you lived experience, it’s doesn’t automatically grant you intellectual superiority on “US constitution, laws, election process, or insitutional corruption” , if that was the case, those voting percentages would be different.

I don’t want to hear from anyone who’s reading headlines from halfway around the world and dismissing my experiences (“just do something”). I don’t wanna hear shit from any armchair revolutionaries living in countries where the police can’t even carry pepper spray.

AFAICT nobody in this thread has said you personally should be doing anything above and beyond the normal voting and campaigning you’d normally do ( i could have missed it, feel free to link any missed statements ).

A great deal of police forces are allowed to carry pepper spray ( or some other form of non-lethal ), many of them also have access to firearms, though obviously not at the scale of the USA I’m sure if we had a senile despot funding a force of untrained bigoted assholes to go out and feel good about themselves, they’d open up that access pretty quickly.

Also, and i don’t mean this as an attack, unless you are actually out there doing something tangible, that would also make you an “armchair revolutionary”, albeit one immersed in the situation.

And this is why other people are done with apologies from Americans.

I should just save myself time and bookmark my previous post to link to. It’s always the same two responses:

          1. “The entire world is descending into facism” (which means I don’t have to do anything about the facism in my country for some reason).
          2. “Why aren’t you fixing our mistake for us? You expect us to do something ourselves?!”

apologizing is useless, organize, fight ICE in the streets, get into local politics and make sure no liberals democat gets into any position, only actual progressives with balls.

Fighting ICE directly with violence yields dead, or maimed protesters and bystanders. MAGA would rejoice and call for blood. Many more on the left will get charged with felonies and denied voting rights. Many MAGA civilians will be emboldened to enact their own “righteous justice” against the leftist scum.

Protesting does nothing when those in power don’t care at all. It will not change MAGAmind. It will be viewed by the majority as an annoyance.

I now believe that the best course of action is to strike at the capitalist heart of America. Halt the financial markets. Ensure pain wherever wealth is. Find the many single points of failure, and then fail those motherfuckers. This is the FIRST step.

What comes next is one of the reasons why UAVs and parts are now controlled (banned).

I’m an American and I’m kinda tired of hearing my countrymen apologize and say they are embarrassed. Were over a year into this and waaaay past the time to say that kinda shit. We shouldn’t be embarrassed, we should feel ashamed and angry. And we shouldn’t apologize, we should be actively finding ways to make a change no matter how small.

I know there are plenty of other Americans that probably lurk on communities like this so I’m mostly saying this to them. And the only reason I’m saying this is because about half the time I see other Americans apologize and say how embarassed they are it often seems like it’s a way to say “see? I’m one of the good ones.” None of us are the “good ones” anymore unless you are actively putting in the work. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t vote for him because he’s still the president. People have died, continue to die, and will die in the future because of this man and he’s doing all of it in our name. If Trump actually causes a global conflict with his bullshit we will not be blameless when the dust settles and our country will have to pay for this regardless of who you voted for.

It’s unbelievable difficult when they have you at the throats financially. I don’t think you fully understand this until you in the middle of it. Being the primary provider for my daughter, I have basically two options. One is to work on a way out so she can have a better life (current plan) OR to risk that she will be an orphan by actively going against the government as everyone outside of US expects. If you have your own children, take a minute to really think if you okay with your child becoming an orphan or homeless, because that’s the reality here. Even posting this risks my employment, as freedom of speech is long gone. This is just my opinion, and does not reflect the opinion of my employer.

That plus what little healthcare we have is tied to employment. If I didn’t have a family I’d be more aggressive. I do have a family and will defend them if it comes to it, but aside from protesting (didn’t do shit) and bitching at my representatives I’m out of viable ideas.

I’m open to suggestions that don’t end with me or mine dead.

Organize. Stay pissed off and motivated. Do not capitulate and stay silent.

And for fuck’s sake: we all need to stop buying/paying for shit that funnels money to the fuckers. It’s amazing how much we spend on crap we don’t actually need and that really doesn’t add to our happiness.

Stop using these asshole’s products. If we’re so god damn weak we can’t deal with a little discomfort and inconvenience we deserve no sympathy.

            little discomfort and inconvenience

I think you underestimate, or refuse to recognize your internal reasoning about level of pain that will be felt. Many of us are going to die. We have to accept that there is no correction without fundamental, and violent change. You will not have a 401k after the ball gets going.

I’m talking about the unwillingness to even take even a little action now. E.g. “I can’t even be fucked to cancel subscription services, write to my representatives, or attend a protest on my time off.”

I’m saying that someone who can’t even bother to do the bare minimum because it’s slightly uncomfortable and inconvenient deserves everything they’ll get – they’re useless, pathetic cowards.

This is the thing that fucking sucks. my wife recently got diagnosed with a pituitary tumor and possibly is about to be diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy. We’ve got 3 autistic kids that are varying degrees of developmentally disabled. We live off SNAP and her disability benefits and they rely on me for care.

So like, what the hell am I supposed to do here? I’m not in the greatest physical health myself, but I could be out there doing something. But if I get arrested or killed protesting this regime, who is going to take care of my family? It really feels like all I can really do is use my cameras to keep watch in my neighborhood in case ICE ever comes around here to harass my neighbors and hope that I can get enough of my neighbors together to run them off if they do.

I don’t know the answer. I think what needs to happen next will inevitably lead to great disfunction in healthcare, and many are in your position. It very much feels like they have us by the balls with a pair of scissors.

Nothing is going to be easy, but the rest if the world is looking to you, the American people, to, at least, blunt this problem as you’re the only ones with the power to do so without a conflict that us likely to go global.

The poison goes deeper than just trump though. It’ll take a societal level change to truly fix, so general strikes, protests, civil disobedience and such are all good, but actually just finding ways to reach the huge chunk if the electorate that doesn’t seem to care about it, and bring them round to seeing the problem would make a huge difference. Talk to the disengaged folk around you, find ways to help them and gain their understanding. That way it’s not just the ardent against an apparently rising tide of fascists, but a majority rising up against the evil within. Fascism wins for only as long as it can portray itself as strong. Humble it with numbers.

We need to do something, yes.

Engaging the apathetic won’t work. Changing the minds of MAGA won’t work. Using our existing system will not work.

The dollars need to burn to awaken the wrath. To do that most likely requires significant violence. Various nations hold their own leverage with US bonds. Those nations need to recognize that those bonds are junk anyway, and will be worthless.

We (humans) are all going to feel a lot of pain from this. It will not be isolated to the US. MAGA will lash out with global violence. Russia, Israel and other bad actors will use the opportunities too.

I want to act. I have been racking my little brain about how. The only organizing happening is for the traditional avenues of change. Should I be lone wolf? How do I shutdown the financial markets? I have no money. I don’t know how to hack, or make and use energetics. The levers that need to be pulled are out of my reach at the moment, but not out of the reach for some other nations. Pull the fucking levers!

You are looking at this as some massive and dramatic plot that only states can possibly influence, and will necessitate massive violence. Your last paragraph shows the inevitable conclusion of that misaprehension, you cast around for a solution you, individually, can implement, find none, and sink back into paralized inaction. Functionally, you give up. Thus is exactly what fascists require of you. Thus is how they remain strong, and prevent dissent.

The truth is, it’s smaller actions that will have the real effects. If trump were to drop dead this minute, the fascism would not end. It might receed as they regroup, but has sunk deep into American life now. It is that societal malaise that is driving this, and trump and his cronies are just symptoms of it. The only way that will change is by the steady, hard, work of individuals like you reaching out to the people you can reach, helping them to see that there is a better way, and helping them embrace it. It is by building a groundswell of support like that, that the poison can be neutralized and American life brought back from the brink. In doing so, you deprive fascism of the one thing it mist needs: the appearance of strength.

You say “Engaging the apathetic won’t work” as though it us a truism, but as trump pushes further, as the economy breaks down further, as their friends, neighbours, and loved ones disappear, as life becones less tolerable, it becomes harder to ignore it all, and those who were apathetic will find themselves looking for a solution too. Leave them, and they can easily be swept up by those offering the illusion of strength and power. Instead you, and people like you, need to be talking to them, pkanting the seeds of doubt in their minds, showing them that this is all a sham, that there is a better way. Build support, and support each other. As the numbers grow it will become less and less comfortable for those who support fascism to express that in public. This is going to be rough, but it doesn’t have to be cataclysmic.

American fascism will fall, of that I am certain. The only questions are when, and how much damage it does in falling. If enough of the American public can find common cause and work together they can bring that moment forward, and minimise the damage. Fail to do so, and there might not be anything recognisable left afterwards.

We have been trying to reach the apathetic for many years now. Most won’t be moved until they feel pain. Everyone’s retirement is dependent on the status quo. People will wake to action when they now have no comfortable future. I feel so crazy and depressed after trying reason with these folks for a near decade now. I think most would remain docile fucks no matter what happens to others. They need to feel the pain personally. Strip them of their retirement and healthcare.

I know this won’t go away with his death. We need to gut the wealthy. Special attention to all the top player’s family trees. Uproot them, and burn every leaf. Their wealth should have no person, or institution, alive to use it. Burn down their estates. Scuttle their yachts. Destroy every place of posh pleasure. This action needs to happen worldwide too
