It’s unbelievable difficult when they have you at the throats financially. I don’t think you fully understand this until you in the middle of it. Being the primary provider for my daughter, I have basically two options. One is to work on a way out so she can have a better life (current plan) OR to risk that she will be an orphan by actively going against the government as everyone outside of US expects. If you have your own children, take a minute to really think if you okay with your child becoming an orphan or homeless, because that’s the reality here. Even posting this risks my employment, as freedom of speech is long gone. This is just my opinion, and does not reflect the opinion of my employer.

That plus what little healthcare we have is tied to employment. If I didn’t have a family I’d be more aggressive. I do have a family and will defend them if it comes to it, but aside from protesting (didn’t do shit) and bitching at my representatives I’m out of viable ideas.

I’m open to suggestions that don’t end with me or mine dead.

Organize. Stay pissed off and motivated. Do not capitulate and stay silent.

And for fuck’s sake: we all need to stop buying/paying for shit that funnels money to the fuckers. It’s amazing how much we spend on crap we don’t actually need and that really doesn’t add to our happiness.

Stop using these asshole’s products. If we’re so god damn weak we can’t deal with a little discomfort and inconvenience we deserve no sympathy.

          little discomfort and inconvenience

I think you underestimate, or refuse to recognize your internal reasoning about level of pain that will be felt. Many of us are going to die. We have to accept that there is no correction without fundamental, and violent change. You will not have a 401k after the ball gets going.

I’m talking about the unwillingness to even take even a little action now. E.g. “I can’t even be fucked to cancel subscription services, write to my representatives, or attend a protest on my time off.”

I’m saying that someone who can’t even bother to do the bare minimum because it’s slightly uncomfortable and inconvenient deserves everything they’ll get – they’re useless, pathetic cowards.

This is the thing that fucking sucks. my wife recently got diagnosed with a pituitary tumor and possibly is about to be diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy. We’ve got 3 autistic kids that are varying degrees of developmentally disabled. We live off SNAP and her disability benefits and they rely on me for care.

So like, what the hell am I supposed to do here? I’m not in the greatest physical health myself, but I could be out there doing something. But if I get arrested or killed protesting this regime, who is going to take care of my family? It really feels like all I can really do is use my cameras to keep watch in my neighborhood in case ICE ever comes around here to harass my neighbors and hope that I can get enough of my neighbors together to run them off if they do.

I don’t know the answer. I think what needs to happen next will inevitably lead to great disfunction in healthcare, and many are in your position. It very much feels like they have us by the balls with a pair of scissors.

So sorry to hear about your wife. Hoping for all the best in her recovery. I’m a firm believer you got to do what is best for your family, especially the kids.
