It took me three weeks of hauling rocks up and down a mountainside for 16 hours a day before I developed the upper body strength to be able to swing this behemoth of a sword.

My blacksmith, Battai says he can’t and doesn’t want to sharpen it because “it doesn’t matter for effectiveness” anyway.

He said: “This is an executioner’s sword. It doesn’t do so much cutting damage as it does blunt, and by blunt, I mean it separates out limbs”

The first person who tried to parry the heavy strike in PvP learned the hard way:

You can’t parry an ultra greatsword.

Love or hate the UGS, it’s a way of life

My first try at DS2, I thought I’d be cool and use a dagger or something, idk, idc. My second try, I learned how it was meant to be played, and that’s with an ultra greatsword.

    Zwei>claymore

Both are good though. I think 8 prefer the gravekeeper sword 9 over claymore in DS1. Unless you want specific elemental damage.

A claymore is just an undergrown Zweihander honestly.

Combine with Chaos upgrade, Gress Crest Shield, father mask, full giants armor, Havel’s ring, ring of favor and protection and two black flames for best results

I found the Irithyll Straight Sword to be perfect for me on DS3, to the point that it’s difficult to stick with other weapons that aren’t my Goldilocks for attack speed, physical range, damage scaling, stamina usage, blocking strength and elemental damage.
