In a just world where traditional American values like the constitution were respected. Our military leaders who swore an oath to the constitution would arrest Pete then and there. They would then arrange a military tribunal for the entire trump administration for this disregard of American law and traditional values.

Quote from the George W Bush official in this article:

“Of course, the mind cannot help but drift towards the nefarious when the stupidity overwhelms every conceivable explanation for why the entire senior leadership of the US military would be ordered to depart their commands, and assemble at a precise geographic point at a precise time,” he wrote. “Were the scenario the basis for a movie depicting the beginning of a coup it would be dismissed as too far-fetched because nothing so absurd could ever be allowed to happen in real life — not to mention the cost, waste of taxpayer money and massive logistics involved. Yet, here we are.”

Turning any branch of the military against Americans means he is a traitor and should be treated as such.

And as former enlisted, I stand by my belief that ANY MILITARY PERSONNEL who obey treasonous orders ARE GUILTY OF TREASON and should be tried accordingly.

You have a DUTY to disobey unlawful or immoral orders, and report those who issue them.

Unfortunately, in practice today that means “intimidate and maybe shoot some Americans on American soil or spend the rest of your life in a military prison”

But would you rather be able to say “I shot 15 men women and children defending the president from embarrassment” or “neonazis put me in prison because I wouldn’t be a neonazi with them”?

yeah I had an airforce friend who said you guys take classes about ethics and the responsibility surrounding following orders during basic. I don’t know if that was just an AF thing but it seems like there are some built in ideology for the military when it comes to the future prospects of civil war.

not that it seems to have always been the thing, I know the national guard has been deployed against American civilians in the past

As a distraction from everything else he was doing at the time and would do in the future?

At some point we really should just stop asking why, especially if we don’t want to know the answer 🥴

I was told time and time again on Lemmy that Dems were just the same. Or controlled opposition. Or Republicans lite. I could go on and on and I’ll hear this all the way to the concentration camps
