You know those dreams where you think you’re still enrolled in a class that you thought you dropped? Or that you suddenly have a test you know nothing about?

When you become a teacher, those are replaced by dreams where you’re asked to teach a class you’re unfamiliar with, with no warning or prep time.

Oh, no, wait, that ACTUALLY HAPPENS. ALL THE TIME.

I have a degree in chemistry. I haven’t actually done labwork in over a decade, and nothing serious in even longer (because nothing like a degree in chemistry makes you loathe labwork).

I frequently have nightmares about not being able to set up experiments, fucking up measurements and breaking ten-million-euro machinery.
