I’m looking for something quality without spending much more than EUR 50. I’m guessing the best way to go is a refurbished or second hand Playstation controller? (currently boycotting Microsoft). I appreciate any recommendations.
I see some good looking budget options but then read about occasional lag issues, stuck buttons or incompatibility with games. But these are designed for major consoles so maybe that’s all irrelevant when it comes to macOS compatibility. I’m totally green here. Thanks!
I use a PS5 Dual Sense controller with my MacBook Pro. New they are $69, unsure how much they are in the EU. A used one may be within your price range.
I never had a PS4, so I do not know the controller well but it is likely to be in your price range.
I do like the idea of a known, quality brand. Thanks for the rec.
I remember that initially pairing was a bit of a pain, not the actual pairing but getting it all to work. I unpaired and repaired a few times. It was nothing horrific. Definitely easier than getting some games to run on a Mac.
I’ve heard good things about the GameSir Nova Lite as a great quality but cheaper alternative (and it has Hall effect sticks, which should make it more durable than an official PS pad).
Seriously considering this, thank you! I’ll update if I get it :)
If you can get your hands on one for cheap, I recommend the Google Stadia controller. Google released a web based patch to enable its Bluetooth connectivity, and it is USB-C as well.
I didn’t know Google made a game controller. Thanks for the rec, but I’m boycotting them too unfortunately.
The controller is from their failed cloud gaming platform, Stadia. It is no longer sold by Google but you might find them second hand from individuals for very little me money. A lot of people do nit know that Google unlocked them.
Oh, that changes things. Thank you! It’s great to have another solid option.
