zingo@sh.itjust.worksto Android@lemmy.world•Files by Google hits 5 billion Play Store downloadsEnglish6·4 months agoExactly.
Those circus numbers shouldn’t even count.
It’s fucking “uninstallable” bloatware like all things Google.
Well, I use a portable HD encrypted with bitlocker and my Linux box can mount the drive and access the files after providing the password.
So I don’t know what you mean by incompatible with Linux? Are internal bitlocker drives treated differently?
Sorry noob here.
zingo@sh.itjust.worksto World News@lemmy.world•Flights are avoiding Russian airspace after the Azerbaijan Airlines crashEnglish12·4 months agoCommercial flights really should stay away from war zones.
Should be a mandatory safety law.
We pull a disproportionate amount of failed ADATA drives.
Happened to me. Lousy costumer service after a drive dead still on warranty.
Funny part is the new substitute drive they sent also died shortly after. Didn’t bother after that. Just threw the drive away.

The Windows computers in our house never upgraded to Win 11.
No surprise there.
Some people are also jumping ship to Linux, fed up of Windows BS all together.

zingo@sh.itjust.worksto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Your favorite lesser known docker container?English10·5 months agoNo, mostly because Google Search is just terrible. The app itself is great.
At least with Searx you can search multiple private search engines (your preference) at once. You can also selfhost it.

I seek and spread knowledge from/to helpful lemmings and not interested in another Twitter wannabe gossip app, hopping on the “decentralized” train to grain traction.

I have no problem switching to an alternative is Cromite bellies-up tomorrow.
For now though I’ll stick with it.
zingo@sh.itjust.worksto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Using something else than Graphene OS is pointless4·6 months agoThe biggest problem is the scarce availability outside the US.
Or should I say, that the biggest problem is software (OS) compatibility with other devices than the Pixel?
My money is on the latter.
Hahaha!
Fuckin epic!
zingo@sh.itjust.worksto Privacy@lemmy.ml•What are your favorite privacy programs you use frequently?1·6 months agoWhy?
Cromite is excellent.
Too bad it’s chromium based, but works a whole lot smoother and snappier than Firefox based browsers, oh and safer as well… So for the time being, Cromite it is.
Librewolf on desktop Linux is my weapon of choise.
zingo@sh.itjust.worksto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Is there a way to guarantee a mobile device or tablet can only access my own services and block all other traffic?English3·6 months agoHmmm. That could be what’s slowing down the GPS locking on my old android phone I use for my fitness app.
No SIM card or WiFi access. Takes a good 20 min just to get a GPS lock.
That means it fucks up my distance monitoring and time intervals, if I don’t have patience to wait, which I honesty don’t!
The app is basically a fancy timer at this point.
;)

Hahaha. That’s hilarious.
Just like society labeling.
Is it still braking changes when upgrading to a newer version?
In the past it felt like I was running an alpha version, which I spend more time fixing, than enjoying its features.
