Games@sh.itjust.works•The Diablo 4 Steam release is struggling, with mixed reviews and less than 2,500 playersEnglish
2·2 years agoI think the guide I had originally followed was actually for World of Warcraft so I don’t see why you wouldnt be able to apply that to Diablo 3 - but the issue with D3 on the deck would ultimately probably be that the PC version of the game has no official controller support.

31·2 years agoAs nice as it would be to have it on steam there is just no incentive to rebuy it. It doesn’t even take much extra work to get the battle net version running on a steam deck.

Enough Musk Spam@lemmy.world•Elon Musk is considering taking Twitter out of Europe amid EU compliance investigation
51·2 years agoTheoretically but there’s a lot of media out there that’s pretty happy to make any old claim.

News@lemmy.world•Remote work is still 'frustrating and disorienting' for bosses, economist says—their No. 1 problem with it is how difficult it is to observe and monitor employees
11·2 years agoThey pump it out because it's what the people at the top of the societal pyramid want. And those are the top are really the ones with all that commercial real estate that's wasting away.

31·2 years agoThere's always lots of jokes about what a shame it is we don't have the flying cars people dreamed about in the past but if you ask me things like this not being more ubiquitous is the real shame! This is incredible and I hope we see more in this space soon.

politics @lemmy.world•Right-wing fearmonger about a “day of jihad” coming to the US despite a lack of evidence
3·2 years agoOh no don't get that misconstrued many really do believe in the good guy with a gun fantasy and that one day they will have to use it to defend themselves or their family from certain doom.

53·2 years agoSurprising to see any suggestions on here for YouTube Premium. I have been lucky enough to be on a family plan for years and it's honestly great. Sometimes, it's just easier not to deal with having to hack around things to make them usable.

That's an interesting perspective that I really hadn't thought about much but you're totally right. Glad I was always more of a lurker there.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Saw a news story people about people getting arrested for at Wal-Mart for forgeting to scan one item
15·2 years agoThe only problem with the sentiment of "just don't use it" is that many of these stores have like one manned checkout vs a dozen sel checkouts. Not about to sit in line with the carts full of stuff when I need to grab two things.

World News@lemmy.world•More than one-third of millennials believe they won’t get a dime of Social Security when they retire, so they’re taking matters into their own handsEnglish
5·2 years agoIt's not exactly that I'm buying into it disappearing is a foregone conclusion - just that if something doesn't happen to proactively protect and improve the system, than yeah, it's in big trouble in the next decade. And my personal bias puts my main concern on the people who rely on it for disability insurance since they are some of the most vulnerable. Of course I want what I paid into it myself later in life, but at least I can see it helping those close to me for some consolation if it doesn't.

News@lemmy.world•America's nonreligious are a growing, diverse phenomenon. They really don't like organized religion
4·2 years agoAgreed. I even have found myself thinking over years that some people in my life would have been better off if they had found religion, though I am not myself religious.

83·2 years agoMillennial here and I have a few family members that rely on SSDI so I just like that my contributions support them. I'll figure things out myself for retirement. But an estimated 7.8 million people rely on SSDI and taking that away from them could very well be death sentences. We have to do better.

Technology@lemmy.world•Windows 12 May Require a SubscriptionEnglish
251·2 years agoGenerally curious how many people that have clung to Windows largely due to gaming have made the switch or plan to make the switch now that Valve has done such great work with Proton. I know I am certainly considering it and this is the kind of thing that will expedite that.

Thanks for the info! Here’s a shot with the gills. Looks like the safe variety to me too!
