postman@literature.cafeto HistoryPorn@lemmy.world•Peter, a man who escaped from slavery, shows his scourging scars, US 1863English261·15 days agoI see where you’re going with this and I accept the possibility Trump is just clumsy and avoidant on the issue.
But you must be aware that there is a strong belief amongst MAGA types and deep conservatives in general that slavery was benign if not beneficial to those subjugated. D’Souza wrote a whole book about it.
They believe liberals exaggerate the bad parts of slavery due to irrational white guilt and black people agree because they are whiners and want reparations.
I strongly suspect this plays into Trump’s rants regarding museums and history curricula.
I realise this is a tongue-in-cheek title but for anyone unaware, sheet music is a very clinical and skeletal approximation of music. Like the difference between reading I Have a Dream and actually hearing MLK deliver the speech. It’s why you can have 1,000 different recordings of a Mozart piano concerto – and why they’re all superior to a PC playing a MIDI file (most accurate representation of sheet music).
Having said that, and despite sheet music being about as far from ‘lossless’ as a stickman drawing, musicians are particularly good at ‘visualising’ music. So much so, that a brain scan can’t distinguish between a musician actually listening to music and a musician merely replaying music in their head.
The Murder
It’s spelled ‘millstone’.

Even when people sort of prompted you.
If you fancy him, take it to the next level. I imagine he’s keeping it light for plausible deniability in case nothing happens or he gets rejected.
Either make a move or tell him you’re not interested in a relationship. Figure out your own intentions instead of trying to mindread him.

I know little and care less about golf but this book was gripping! Reilly is a great writer and, despite my having read several other books on Trump (Mary Trump, Michael Wolff, etc), I really think Reilly’s explains Trumps method of operation better than every other attempt.
It’s absolutely shocking what he does in his day to day life. The anecdotes are piled high, the double dealing and fabrications are outrageous. Every single page contains some revelation even more odious than the previous.
A morbid fascination and dogged curiosity regarding the depths of Trump’s moral abyss will keep you tutting and eye-rolling to the end.
(Sounds like a sales pitch, I know. But I casually picked it up in a thrift shop for €1. No regrets!)

It plays on the American self-image as John Wayne types, when everyone in Europe knows they’re usually not very streetwise and walk around with maps and cameras talking loudly.
The other comments here are quick to jump in with opinions about how Americans don’t take any shit, implying European simps just roll over for these pesky pilferers.
It’s a real Don’t Mess with Texas vibe based on another dodgy blog article.

You’ll notice he only starts freewheeling on the last word or two of a sentence or paragraph. That’s all he’s heard.
postman@literature.cafeto politics @lemmy.world•Trump pleads ignorance after using antisemitic slur4·2 months agoI think I first heard this from an article by Tony Schwartz who wrote The Art of the Deal. He mentioned seeing the speeches book by Trump’s bed during one of their brief meetings about Trump’s book, which Trump took no part in.
