I wouldn’t say that they aren’t doing anything. The number of letters we’ve received asking for donations to the party has sharply ticked up. They’re getting what they really want from the situation.

The last few elections have taught them that they don’t need to win over the progressives. They need to capture that centrist/center-right majority that are looking for a reason to ditch the Republican Party. I expect they’ll lean into that in the mid-terms and in 2028.

It works in France because there’s an implication that you guys will start burning everything to the ground if the government doesn’t capitulate. The implication comes from a clear and demonstrated history of actually doing so.

I don’t think he (or his handlers) was ever speaking for Americans as a population when talking about making America great again. He was speaking for the rich and powerful who are yearning for the gilded age, with its company towns and Pinkertons and extreme wealth concentration.

The rise of the middle class and the democratization of rule has been a big bummer for them.

An ethnostate does not simply imply a that a majority of one ethnic group exists. Apartheid is not normal for most states.

An ethnocracy is a type of political structure in which the state apparatus is controlled by a dominant ethnic group (or groups) to further that group’s perceived interests, power, dominance, and resources.

So White Christian Nationalists wanting to have their own ethnostate and exterminate non-whites is bad, but Jewish Nationalists (Zionists) wanting to have their own ethnostate and exterminate non-Jews is ok?

I don’t know about your last take, though. It was clear from polling that siding with Israel was not going to be well received and, faced with the most important election not to lose, the Democrats decided that continuing to support the genocide was more important than stopping the slide into a fascist hellscape.

This was a deliberate decision of theirs. They weighed the choices and decided on what we have now. They are not on your side.

This was before my time, so it’s always interesting to read about Nixon and see that he was way to the left of the current Democrats and saw a lot of positive things happen under his terms. He’s remembered as a crook and a boogeyman, but by modern day standards, the Watergate scandal would barely even raise an eyebrow.

They did acknowledge the problem in 2008, when Obama ran the first time and the support from the working class (and other non-1%) was good. Then he quickly turned into a status quo democrat and they haven’t tried it again since.

Royalty (even ornamental) in the 21st century is just an example of having backwards and ridiculously outmoded cultural constructs. I admit that I could have phrased that better.

European résumés include photographs and marital status, which would be an outrageous reach into one’s personal life in the states. It’s not surprising that they’re ok with the idea that bosses should be able to have relationships with their employees and still keep their jobs. I guess that makes the resumes make more sense.

The Europeans had, and still have in some cases, dynastic royalty and state religions and stuff. They’re surprisingly backward in a lot of ways. The personal freedom to use your power imbalance at work for sexual gratification seems like the sort of thing they’d never move forward away from.
