I guess TikTok, because I tried it once and uninstalled it. It felt like the app was using me, not the other way round.
mattc@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned (TIL)@lemmy.ca•TIL that up to 70% of the sand on some white sandy beaches was excreted by parrotfish after eating coral7·4 months agoInteresting. Never even considered how sand is formed.
Looks pretty cool.
mattc@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting 12 new subclasses next weekEnglish4·4 months agoThanks, I did that and I hope it works. PS5 often updates games even if you have updates turned off. Not sure if that happens with BG3 but I’ll soon find out I guess.
What worries me, is all the info from those conversations actually becoming public. I haven’t fed it personal info, but I bet a lot of people do. Not only stuff you might tell it, but information fed from people you know. Friends, family, acquaintances, even enemies could say some really personal or downright false things about you to it and it could one day add that to public ChatGPT. Sounds like some sort of Black Mirror episode, but I think it could happen. Wouldn’t be surprised if intelligence agencies already have access to this data. Maybe one day cyber criminals or even potential employers will have all this data too.
mattc@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting 12 new subclasses next weekEnglish28·5 months agoThat’s cool, but I hope it doesn’t auto update on my PS5, because I’m still on Act 2 and took a break. Worried this will break my mods again and I’ll have to start over. I think I’m on my third unfinished run at this point.
mattc@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What were you surprised to learn wasn't actually normal?39·5 months agoLooking at light or sky when I need to sneeze helps me sneeze quicker.
It’s apparently something to do with Photic sneeze reflex. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photic_sneeze_reflex

I mean, sure, they’re everywhere, but the weather’s nice.

mattc@lemmy.worldto [MIGRATED TO DIFFERENT INSTANCE CHECK PIN POST] Balatro@lemm.ee•Urge4·5 months agoThis worked for me three times in a row before. And that was when I knew it was never gonna work again. I swear I’ve had it 10 times since and it hasn’t worked. Used up all my luck.
In Australia, they’re just called pancakes. However, we also have smaller pancakes, usually served cold, which we call pikelets.
Damn, that looks delicious! I would probably die if I ate that, but I would die happy.
mattc@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When was the last time some, crazy, random, extremely well produced, content like "Kung Fury" happened?7·5 months agoIf you liked Kung Fu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer was a movie made by the same director, and it shares the same type of humour and amazing special effects. Worth checking out if you haven’t.
mattc@lemmy.worldto [moved to piefed] movies@lemm.ee•What's your favourite classic movie you think everyone should have seen once in their life?English31·6 months agoThe first three Lord of the Rings movies, directed by Peter Jackson: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers & The Return of the King.
I use IronFox, because it’s supposed to be a privacy-focused browser. I also liked the Kiwi browser before they got bought out by Microsoft or whatever happened to them. If a site I trust isn’t working in IronFox, I’ll use either Firefox or Firefox Nightly as an alternative. I really enjoy Hermit as well, although often I’ll forget I even have that app. It’s very useful though.
