Yes updating is part of it, but at least on my current setup (using just the old laptop with limited storage) it often includes stuff like extending the partition for a VM. I understand that this is probably not a problem, when using a NAS with several TB of storage though
The thing is I don’t want to invest in one of those while I am still unsure about which route to go.
Also stiff like connecting to a service from outside my home network isn’t configured right now due to security concerns (stemming from the actually very little knowledge I have setting all this stuff up). I will look into tailscale though, maybe having this feature will give me a motivation boost :D

The kWh/1000h does convey more information than just W though. If I buy a fridge and it says 100W I wouldn’t know if that’s its max power draw or average over time. With the 1000h in there it’s pretty clear we are talking about the average.
Also people who aren’t technically minded might only know “kWh” as that’s what it states on your power bill and they can directly guess what kind of energy bill this fridge might cause.
So you are technically correct I guess and we all know that’s the best kind of correct.
We do have worse stuff in the metric system though, kcal is not the same as the SI for energy (J) for example. Also everything involving time gets messy quickly. Nothing compared to the imperial measurements obviously

Da muss ich dir leider widersprechen, niemand holt sich so ein Auto, weil es schnell fahren kann (wirklich brauchen tut’s ja ohnehin keiner). Gründe sind eher:

• Boah geil! 600PS junge!
• Beschleunigung
• Sound großvolumiger Motoren
• Die theoretische Möglichkeit burnouts zu machen

Diese Autos verkaufen sich ja auch prächtig in Ländern mit recht strikter Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung
