  • I honestly preferred no sequls, everytime something new. I haven’t played pyre and hades 2. While I liked hades, I was a bit sad when I heard hades 2, instead of something new.

I’m not an expert, but money (sales) is probably the reason. How many of their previous games sold vs Hades.

Also, maybe it’s a bit cynnical to think of it this way, but hades 2 would require much less effort compared to making something new and it will churn sales as the first one has been a success. Additionally, they probably already had good idea and materials for additions to hades. So why not make hades 2 out of them. Maybe after that they will work on something new.

  • Man here. It took me a lot of therapy and help to understand that my (or someone’s) suffering doesn’t mean less just because there are a lot of others who are suffering more.

I used to say crap like this too, if someone said ‘X group of people have this problem’. I’d be like ‘but Y has the same problem but to higher extent’. I didn’t say it out of malice, at least I don’t think so. lt was natural to think ‘how can you be complaning about X when Y has the same problem but more’. Maybe I just believed that first you address the problem with bigger statistical number, then we do the smaller one after that and so on, but I dont know. I know now, that is a shitty way to think about things.

I guess it has something to do with how I was raised, ‘your problems aren’t that great, there are people with bigger problems and in comparison your life is a luxury. So chin up and carry on’. And I lived by it and parroted the same rhetoric for a long time. I believe most people (men?) do the same not out of malice but because of this shitty view of life and the world, because how they were raised, because how people told them how their problem can be ignored because someone else has a bigger problem. and they don’t know any better. At least I didn’t for a long time.

  • The things I would be ok paying a subscription for:

    • Rotating free Games that I get to keep. Like epic but only for subscribers. The game should be mine even after I quit the subscription.
    • Extra insights in preservation, or goodies
    • voting rights on what games should be free next month for the sunscribers.
    • discounted price on games.

Things that I feel it shouldnot be locked behind subscription and paywall:

    • tool for backing up offline installers
    • ability to install previous versions of game
    • and definitely not voting rights on games to bring into the preservation program.

If the tooks for backing up offline installers or ability to install previous versions of game are paywalled, that is going to invite more reasons for piracy.

  • Same here, improved imprived improved. I have been looking to switch to sway and experimented with qtile (… Wayland is the future yo). One thing that stops from moving is feh. I know wayland has it’s own lightweight, image viewer, background setter. But feh is all in one. The closest thing is imv, but I cant get it to render raw images. (… i am aware feh does work in wayland using xwayland but not natively.)

  • There is legendary which is command line and Heroic which is legendary with gui without telemetry from epic. Heroic also does gog but gog doesnt require a launcher anyways.

Funfact, I have restricted work computer (windows). Certain websites are blocked and installing anything requires remote access by IT to enter admin password (they dont give admin rights temporarily). But it has pip installed.

    • pip install legendary
    • legendary install app-name
    • legendary run app-name

You can also create a shortcut and set the target as ‘legendary run app-name’. I also have over 300 games I collected from epic. I don’t condone gaming on work time, but it feels nice I can run something other than browser games during compiling and other downtime.

Growing up in rural Nepal, my grandfather had 6 cows(Bos taurus) and 4 buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and a few goats. We owned a big forested land and the cattle and goats roamed there all day and came back in the evening. I think they also maintained the local football field sometimes. We (our cattle) were pretty much the majority milk supplier in our village.

My memory could be decieving me, and english is like my 4th language, but none of our cows had testicles.
