I’ve noticed the same with younger ebike riders. Funny thing is that they follow the rules of the road whereas the older kids on dirt bikes could care less about the rules.

It’s too crazy to ride on the road with cars anymore. I live in a semi rural area that has been settled since the late 1600’s. Most of the roads follow the old established trails. When I was younger, I didn’t see any problems. Then again I was young, dumb, and bulletproof. Now I’m just dumb. We have a lot of rails to trails in the area so that’s where I ride anymore. It just kinda drives me nuts that I have to load up the bike and drive to a place to ride it.

Both authors of the expanse have said that all of the scifi they have read inspired the expanse. There are examples of this. The term belter is one of these. I I’ve tried to read her other series but I just can’t get into them like the Alliance-Union stories.

I understand your complaints about this book. It was my 1st book that I purchased of hers. I felt the same way when I 1st read it but stuck to it and finished it. It was the expanse tv show that made me go back to read all of the Alliance-Union universe. It fits when taken with it. I enjoyed it much more reading it the 2nd time.

Like the apple Superbowl add?

My 86y old Dad was trying to tell me “but it’s Chuck Schumer holding back the vote”. When I explained that the three branches of govt are controlled by the Republicans he didn’t want to hear it.

That’s bullshit. There are more ICE vehicle fires than EV’s. One of many studies.

Wait, what?

I do the same with mine. 😜

Corroborate what you read. Just like any good journalist worth his/her salt.

It’s a matter of experimenting of what works and what doesn’t. Location, conditions, weather. Find some locals and talk to them. Watch videos. My favorite was Bill Dance.

Absofuckinglutely. I do the same.

Yes there was a story of an early Thanksgiving in Plymouth.
Washington did declare a thanksgiving in 1789.
It was largely forgotten until Sarah Josepha Hale rebuplished the story in her newspaper.
The holiday we celebrate today came about due to the union losses in the first 2 years of the civil war. To buoy popular support most of the union governors called for a holiday of Thanksgiving.
It was Abraham Lincoln on July 15 1862 declared a day of Thanksgiving.
On August 6th 1863. He declared a national day of Thanksgiving due to the turn in the war now that the union was winning.
In October 1863 he declared another day of Thanksgiving. He eventually gave a number of days of Thanksgiving.
In 1939 FDR set the holiday to the next to last Thursday. This was to help boost the economy giving an extra 7 days for Xmas shopping.
