In my 39 years of life, I have literally never seen an example of christians in positions of power that weren’t dogmatic assholes. I was born into a country run by christian nationalist bigots that used the bible to justify their apartheid. I grew up knowing people who were just as ‘christian’ as they were racist and homophobic. The catholic church has had a pedo problem since before I was born. The boarding school I went to was run by reborn christian hypocrites that were some of the nastiest people that I’ve ever met. And now look at what the christians are doing in the USA.

So I’m sorry, pope. It wasn’t gay people that drove me away from the “christian message”. It was christians that drove me away from it.

Yep, the same people attacking trans rights are attacking women’s rights. Personally I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the rise of bigotry happened at exactly the same time as the rise of the manosphere. It’s the patriarchy and ‘masculinity’ driving this, plain and simple. I don’t like stereotypes but the biggest and most unashamed bigots I’ve met in my life have all been men. ESPECIALLY the kind of men that are constantly worried and insecure about being ‘manly’.

Oh gods. I’m terrible with alarms. I’ve been known to wake up, disable it and then go back to sleep without even remembering it. And to make it worse, whenever I have something happening the next day that requires an alarm and me waking up early, I won’t be able to fall asleep until the early hours of the morning. So I’m probably deep in REM sleep by the time the alarm hits.

Don’t count on it. I’m sure they’ll fit right into a trailer park in Alabama. But don’t expect people who are going to make your society a better place for all to live in or anything. I wouldn’t even trust the ones who are interested in going to Democrat run Minnesota, as the article says. They’ll just help the Republicans take control there next time.

The problem is that most of the ‘spam’ comes from official things like websites that you’ve signed up to and didn’t realise would also include dumb fkn emails periodically. And they don’t always do it right away either. I’ve had emails suddenly start arriving from somewhere that I signed up to like a year before.

Personally, my spam mitigation is to have one email address for signing up to shit with. Then these assholes can email me until they’re blue in the face and I don’t care because the only time I ever visit that inbox is for verification. And then I have another email address for personal use that never gets used because who uses email for personal use these days?

In conclusion. Email is for signing up to things and collecting trash that I’ll never look at.

That’s a good point. The big shift probably also coincides with more of the masses getting online. Back in 2005 I was a Symbian user and we used to laugh at the Apple people paying crazy premium prices for ‘smart’ phones that couldn’t even multitask.

This kinda follows the same pipeline that everyone else went down on Facebook and Twitter. At one point, the internet was all about Anonymous and Zeitgeist and revolution.

Then one Arab Spring and a couple of years later, we all went from Anonymous and Zeitgeist to thinking that billionaires and businessmen are the answers to all of our problems.

We need to stop using big sciencey words like “climate”, “change”, “global”, “warming”, “weather”, “melting”, “ice” etc. and use words that they understand like “demons”, “hell”, “bad juju” etc.

Ah, there it is. It’s pretty sad that I just knew from the moment I saw this headline that it would be more about bashing queer people than celebrating straight people. I actually commented about this in another thread earlier saying that I think if people need an excuse to celebrate and be merry that’s great, but I hope it’s not just a bigot parade.
