Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Looking for a selfhostable chat service that people on phone and computers can log ontoEnglish
1·25 days agoI personally use Matrix for this. Artyom kinda summarizes issues of all chats pretty well. If you use Yunohost installing Matrix is at least easy. Matrix/Element is good enough and even my non tech wife is able to use it.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why do so many services require email configuration?English
3·28 days agoSame I almost got locked out from my Ghost account because of email 2FA. Luckily you could change the config to override it.
Same annoying was with Mastodon, but luckily as admin you can approve accounts to override the email confirmation.

2·2 months agoNice to hear that it is worked on! I guess since it has working API someone could technically create own desktop app for it :D Encryption is probably not early priority I assume since it is supposed to be lightweight?
My comparison for this app is Trillium notes. In jotty the UI looks better and kanban support is one of the features that I missed in Trillium notes!

4·2 months agoWow this looks amazing! One of the best looking note taking apps. I think my only problem is that I like that I have offline access to my notes and I think this is only webbased? I didn’t read the details in dept but can you sync notes with other note taking apps?

Games@lemmy.world•Heart Machine making layoffs and ending development on Hyper Light BreakerEnglish
9·2 months agoSad to hear that company is not doing that great. Hyper Light Drifter is one of my favorite games. I never tried Hyper Light Breaker because of the mixed review and my having less time than usual to play games.

2·2 months agoFun idea for game!
Same, this is why I like Hyper Light Drifter. Boss fights are hard, but when die you are instantly back at the fight.
I tried playing the Titan Souls but it was really annoying game. It is a boss rush game where both you are boss die in one hit. So some times you can die instantly when boss fight starts. Issue is that there is really long load times and you have to walk back to boss (and there isn’t even combat). Some times walking back to the boss takes longer than the time you fought the boss.
Cool variadic arguments and Abstract classes and methods. Multi windows also great, but I think it already works in Flatpak?

3·4 months agoThank for sharing! Didn’t realize there was playlists for splitting genres! I lean toward symphonic and nu metal and noticed there are few that match that genre!

My vote also goes for Godot. Godot is the “new Unity” and it has a lot of resources to help beginners get started. It is free so you can try it with no worries and take some other option if you don’t like it. But if you are just starting game development there is “no wrong answer”. You should just select one engine and try to finish a game with it.
