Rock solid.
Whatever it is, I bet it’s not going to waste either.
So, less than 100M per corp? Chump change.
But when did the narwhal bacon?
Obligatory relevant xkcd.
I’ve been using DDG exclusively for years now and every now and then I feel it doesn’t give me what I seek and I try Google and it doesn’t find shit either.
People always say that Google results are still superior but I believe that’s only the case as long as you’re in the bubble they create based on your profile and you’re looking for your interests and like-minded opinions.
Of course it’s only complementary - now, that people still need convincing. Once it’s installed they’ll push to remove cash for good as ultimately it’s about control. And not being able to track cash transactions has been driving our governments crazy since forever.
This illustrates how AI will mess with news reporting. Even after explicitly stating in the title that it’s generated, people still take it as a photo.
This one has a real chance to become reality. Many businesses and government agencies would be interested in tracking people indoors.
Upper-case T; different matter. You’re evoking a dystopian nightmare that reduces humanity to educationally subnormal homunculi with no prospects, no future and various unalive things I’d use a spoiler tag and trigger warning for if I knew how to do that.
So what? You’re just describing what Zuck has been working towards since he started that shit at college.
Definitely. I’ve registered with both, kbin and Lemmy, and unfortunately most seem to migrate towards the latter. Kbin is cleaner and less buggy.
Good. Finally that one friend of mine will stop posting Twitter links and I can blacklist it again.
Subscription fees instead of single-buy licenses are generally more profitable after 1-2 years. This whole cloud crap is a pure vendors’ market.
Also, telemetry isn’t required anymore when users just use cloud services. That’s what made Google and Facebook big after all.
Good for you. But since the subreddit is the explicit topic or this thread the right thing to do would have been to not post a reply at all.
I’m absolutely with you. Boiling frog and all. 10 years ago nobody would have believed that you’d require an online account to log into your local machine.
As soon as it’s viable from a business point of view (as in people will swallow it), it will be cloud only.
You ever had respect for big tech?
Are apps site-exclusive or federated as well? Will I be able to use a Lemmy app with a kbin account?
Just wow. Never knew it was that bad. I’ve been browsing with adblock since forever and quit Reddit immediately when RIF stopped working. Wouldn’t be able to tolerate that official shit one minute.
