Goods and services must be delivered to their destinations at a scale and granularity that trains and bikes simply can’t attain. Your whole anti-car movement amounts to tilting at windmills.

More Metal Gear-like sounds awesome. Article mentions equipment customization, more weapons, camo options for stealth etc.

Cars are at least useful.

That stuff would be about $50 or less total in my area, but I wouldn’t buy any of those but the butter.
IDK, it reminds me of my college days in the US.
Talking to robots is always lame, and denigrating to the human being who speaks to the inanimate.
Youtube addiction I guess?
You can also just enjoy your meal without looking at screens - there’s a whole world out there.

USB drive or SD card archival might require a 6-month maintenance routine of inserting into a computer and verifying the files are still present etc.

RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•After they kill Wikipedia history will be AI hallucinations.English5·10 days agoI did already, tried the XOWA client to run a local copy on my PC. Wasn’t as easy as I hoped but it worked.
Planning to get a couple of USBs stashed away with full copies of Wikipedia and the reader app for knowledge security. You can fit the whole thing with a working installation onto a 128GB USB or less. My install dir was about 69GB total.

Satisfaction Guaranteed or your money back!English22·11 days agoThat’s true but it’s not in the same ballpark as GPS tracking. The phone company knows what county I’m in but probably not what businesses and municipal buildings I enter on foot unlike GPS location services. Bluetooth and Wifi are also disabled when I leave the house to minimize those being used for device tracking.
It’s just good practice to disable all the unused wireless radios in your pocket computer. Don’t turn them on until you need them on. It saves a lot of battery life too.

I also don’t use location services on my phones. Fuck all that tracking bullshit.
RaoulDook@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Open source text editor poisoned to target Uyghur usersEnglish61·11 days agoThe difference is that in the USA about 10 million Americans have been out in the streets protesting all of the fascist regime’s abuses. The judicial branch of the US gov’t is also making efforts to block illegal abusive actions with moderate success. The difference is that in the USA we have the rights to fight these things.
I feel the tree of Liberty becoming thirsty
