Nooodel@lemmy.worldOPto Mycology@mander.xyz•Found in the Northern Alps, any clue what that is?6·7 days agoI think this could be a younger specimen, found it a few meters away. Thanks for the fast replies!
Size of the original Pic was around 15- 20 cm high? The second Pic smaller obviously
It’s in Canada
Tamron 50-400 on a Sony Alpha 7 Compact II.
Settings I’ll have up look up, think shutter was around 1/1000, aperture wide open, full zoom as I didn’t want to disturb the bird.
Also this was perhaps 30min after sunrise, good light always helps :)
Absolutely not :D
I was only visiting on holidays, so not familiar with the local wildlife. I googled it after I shot the bird and acc. to Wikipedia Egrets are Herons… Since this one is white I figured it’s a white heron. But googling some more triggered by your question I understand now they are a distinct species and not a heron?
I know that cat and the couch it’s sleeping on :) it is a super chill animal that even let a lowly visitor like me sit there for 5 min while drinking my coffee and scratch it between the ears

It was a really good time. You have something light to do that benefits from lots of conversation, is spontaneous, creative and cooperative. 10/10 will do that again soon
Cheers 🙂 the color original didn’t have half the charm, as the yellow wood, green wall, red graffiti all distract from the lighting and lines that make the image.
Do you mean motion or emotion?

Nooodel@lemmy.worldto Atheism@lemmy.world•Schools in Texas are forcing teachers to put the 10 Commandments up…English212·23 days agoWhat disturbs me a bit is that we’re in an atheism community and 99% of the answers hinge around ‘put up more religion’. Sure, if one then treat them all the same. But then also treat us the same. We don’t believe that any of that has a room in a science class room. Where is the respect for our believe?
Hang them up. Then once explain to your students why none of this belongs in a science class room. Ask who would like to have the honors of tearing them down at the end of the class as a proactive lesson on science. Explain to them why this will be a daily ritual now.
This way they’re on display every day, so you are strictly speaking compliant. But it makes it very clear that this has no place here. Your students will become more comfortable with the idea of resisting religious BS. Until the day you are fired for it. Then they learn that freedom has a price.
here the spider was still in one piece
Pretty likely. The second image on Google looks closely like the moss itself (it also grew in a nearly perfectly round sphere)
