It’s probably also because of tax. Here in the Netherlands, you cannot provide any clothes without a logo of a certain size. Otherwise it would be seen as ‘wages’. True to some extent. This is why companies here print their logos on stuff (even for newborn rompers).

You absolutely can, but the price of the workers for these kinds of things are way higher in the US as opposed to China. Also, if Apple could automate away manual labour to the point it would be economically viable they sure as heck would’ve done so already. Price increases using US-based manual labour are inevitable - its one of the major reasons why the global market is as it is today, cheap labour in developing countries.

I can imagine your stance, however it is important to be at least aware of it. As long it’s a conscious choice! Problem with big ad parties these days is that it’s so complex, it’s hard to make a properly informed decision about it. My comment about bank statements is just taking it to the extreme to make a point - no offence intended of course.

Having not read the article (just the headline)… I seriously don’t understand why people torch/destroy other peoples stuff! Yes Elon bad, but why attack innocent civilians?! 10-ish years ago, you were considered a leftist nutjob with a hardon for climate change when you bought a Tesla (note: I do firmly believe in climate change), these days you’re a nazi driving the exact same car?… Debate, discussion, even disagreement between parties is all fine and dandy, but actually destroying other peoples property is - in my honest opinion - against the very thing people ‘are fighting for’.

Why do these idiots don’t understand the basic principle: happy employee is productive employee. Understanding life happens and work is ‘just’ work. Give and take equally, be reasonable about stuff - basic human empathy… I hold my own personal time in high regard, it would be insane not to hold other people’s personal time in high regard too.
Well, you kind of implied that saying you don’t have days off… if you factor it in you certainly have, you just choose to not spend them.
Well, that should be part of your hourly rate. I’m also self-employed and sick and personal days-off are factored in (with a large margin too, just in case!).

For servers having separate home (and/or other dirs) partitions is great, as user fluff won’t kill the ability tor ‘more important processes’ to store stuff. If everything is kept on a single partition, the user is essentially able to DoS the system by filling up space.

Nexz@feddit.nlto Technology@lemmy.world•Teslas Can Still Be Stolen With a Cheap Radio Hack—Despite New Keyless TechEnglish1·1 year agoI know! But Teslas are still connected to ‘Homebase’. I’m looking at it like Apple. Steal an iPhone? They’ll brick it remotely. This does scare thieves, one way or another. If there is a thief that is able to negate all the remote interception capabilities, sure… but the numbers of the people capable of that are low.
Nexz@feddit.nlto Technology@lemmy.world•Teslas Can Still Be Stolen With a Cheap Radio Hack—Despite New Keyless TechEnglish2210·1 year agoAs a Tesla owner I’m probably biased, but I do not fear these attacks at all. Thing is, because a Tesla is so connected to the mothership (and I definitely realise that’s both a good and a bad thing), chances of a thief actually being able to use or sell the vehicle are very slim. Tesla always knows where their cars are, and urning off GPS and LTE ruins 90% of the features in the car. I think thieves know this because I haven’t heard of any Tesla getting stolen and not being retrieved (but n=1).
So when I talk about watermelons I’m suddenly a loser :(?
Indeed, where Tom Paris gets a memory implanted of a crime he didn’t commit!
