  • He says that, having already adopted the first two, he tackled the third: “When I have the Red Command, Amigos de Amigos (ADA), the PCC here…” he sighs, listing powerful organized crime groups, “as well as a situation in which a huge number of fugitives are roaming the city with impunity, it’s impossible for the police to be arresting everyone. The only way to remove them from circulation to protect society — and place them where [the justice system] has decided they should be — is through technology.”

Funny how a person that’s alledgedly related to PCC (organized crime) complains about them.

  • The new p-state driver on the linux kernel, for the amd cpus are already there, so this is enabled by default, you can see the difference on this phoronix article on a server cpu. As I use a shitty chinese fake x99 motherboard that was a server motherboard at some point in time on a broadwell era cpu, i had to do some changes for it to act like the modern kernel version, like setting the cpu to manage the p-states (performance states, like the frequency of the cpu) on the bios while the kernel says what is the power delivery to the kernel to decide (the hwpm_native bits, the modern version, instead of the old acpi) on the bios. So the cpu says what is the best frequency for the microseconds workload it has and the linux kernel says what is the power delivery, like in the modern amd p-state driver, that I think you already have on the cachyos kernel.

On the compression part, the ssd or hard drive you have will have compression enabled by default on cachyos. The default compression it sets is zstd. It’s very good at the compression ratio, like 3:1, but uses some memory and cpu power to compress/decompress. lzo (for the disk) and lz4 (for zram) have compression ratios of like 2:1, but they are FAST and use a lot less resources, so changing to them will make your pc use less resources while having a generally good compression, but its not the best compression. You can set lzo on the fstab file (take a lot of care with this), restart your computer and defragment your disk (/usr, /home, /opt, /etc) with sudo btrfs filesystem defragment -rvf -clzo <FOLDER> (defragmenting and compression files with lzo) and configure lz4 for zram0. I feel happy with this option, as it uses less power and is very fast, as seen in this article.

But only change things if you are comfortable and understand what you are doing. I hope this was a good explanation hahaha.

  • I’m not OP, but CachyOS makes almost any system fly.

On my thinkpad x1 tablet, a 4w tablet, it just runs extremely fast, even with its 1440p screen. On my main computer (xeon e5 2667 v4 with rtx 3050 6gb), i gained a lot of performance, as i set the p-states for the cpu to decide and the power for the kernel to decide, BORE just crushed anything i used before, using the vkd3d, dxvk from the repo (and using the install scripts that comes with them), and wine-cachyos and proton-cachyos.

Using lzo for btrfs with autodefrag (instead of zstd, which is the default compression) and lz4 for zram, things are instantaneous, on my underpowered linux tablet and on my frankenstein desktop.

CachyOS gives the best performance on cpus that are compatible with the v3, v4 and up instruction sets.

It is a very good daily driver, only the fastfetch on opening a terminal and the kde launch icon are not cool in my opinion, but i just disabled fastfetch on the default cachyos fish config and put papirus as the icon theme.

So i think you should try it, it changes how fast you interact with the computer.

  • Brazil doesn’t have draconian laws, but things get added on top of other things. An example:

For homicide, there’s x time in jail, but if it is done out of pettiness, it can get up an amount of time, if it is a hate crime, there’s more time added.

So participating in a mob that literally shat on the supreme court chairs, destroyed countless historical art pieces in the buildings, had an assassination plot on the supreme court ministers, attempted to overthrow a (flawed) democracy, etc, gets up a lot of time, even if she “just” put the makeup on the statue.
