It’s extremely spot on that instead of doing obvious things that would better the city they just invest in a bunch of industry and tech instead. Very on the nose. Especially the Dark Knight Rises Batman where he had a clean energy program that was the answer to the energy crisis or whatever they were in but he just didn’t do it because he thought ‘the world wasn’t ready’.

Everything’s been a scam for a while especially this bullshit society. Capitalism inherently encourages and drives everything towards scamming people gotta “make profit” and no one dare dictate what’s egregious or not because “who are you to say” so there is just no limit to the greed whatsoever. They’re going to modernize plots of old unionization climaxes where they were like “if you won’t acknowledge our union we’re going to fucking blow up the factory and you will have nothing” and they’ll twist it in to a sob story about how the unions are terrorists and how the factory owner has a family and children and :'(. Surprised more of it hasn’t already happened lol.
