Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something that sounds 100% false but is actually 100% true?English
2·2 years agoIt has a (smaller) european part.
You want me to drink actual Dihydrogen Monoxide? No way!
Just because people with years of experience with something don’t have to think about it, doesn’t mean it’s intuitive.
As a non-native speaker, I don’t find it intuitive at all, even though I don’t have to think about it anymore. And as you can see by their post, OP didn’t find it intuitive either.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the point of buying new phones every years?
2·2 years agoWell these are some really good points! I didnt think about batteries degrading but as far as I know, the more expensive phones tend to have larger batteries which will still get you through a day without charging…
Talking about accidents, I dont think the warranty replaces accidents where you are at fault (?). My phones (cheap or expensive) always had a case and tempered glass on them and I have yet to damage any of them but I get your point, expensive phones have to last for longer. I personally worry more about how long I am going to get security updates though…
- Completely agree with you on this one.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the point of buying new phones every years?
91·2 years agoBuying cheaper phones for the purpose of feeling the need to upgrade them sooner doesnt really make sende though, does it?
As a non-native speaker, referring to a single teacher as “they” is not very intuitive (although correct)…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I use Matrix for Messaging?English
5·2 years agoMatrix IMO is more like a discord alternative. For private messaged I would use (and I do use) Signal. Its very easy to setup too and seems like the most reliable instant messenger.
Imagine several people building a sand castle at the beach. Anyone can join, just start building your own little tower and then connect it to the main castle (this is instances explained). You can also invite anyone to work on your specific part of the castle and build the tower with you (users joining an instance).

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•has anyone tried out lemmynade as a lemmy app?English
5·3 years agoLiftoff as a name is so confusing because thats the name of one of the most popular FPV drone simulators. How do you even find this app on a regular web search?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you need to own a 24/7 online server separate from your main PC to create an instance?English
1·3 years ago24/7 online, yeah pretty much. There are people that host instances at home but they most likely already have a small homeserver setup.
This can be solved by going to your phones settings, then search for “Opening Links”. Then tap on Jerboa, click on “Add links” and tick all boxes. Now it will automatically open the links in the app!

Technology@beehaw.org•Automakers can’t quit manual transmissions so they’re cramming fake stuff into EVsEnglish
1·3 years agoIf (hypothetically) taking a taxi was free, some people would still rather drive the car themselves, even though both things get you to your destination. Some people simply enjoy switching gears on a manual…

Technology@beehaw.org•Automakers can’t quit manual transmissions so they’re cramming fake stuff into EVsEnglish
1·3 years agoWhat about a car with an electrity-powered engine but with an actual manual transmission? Like, just replacing the combuation engine with an electric one…

These solutions were only invented because of that. If everyone could just copy it, nobody would take the trouble of trying to come up with a solution. Also, not only wealthy people can afford this, pretty much everyone who can afford a table saw can also afford it. A pretty good illustration of the advantages of capitalism if you ask me…
