  • That’s silly, you can’t just decouple from both of the world’s largest economies. The EU deindustrialized itself, and Australia and New Zealand aren’t exactly economic superpowers. Also, Japan is a de-facto one party state with a far-right government.

The smart thing to do is to play the superpowers against each other - distance yourself from the US as much as we can (which we of course can only do to an extent), and normalize relations with China. We would be fools to continue to blindly follow US foreign policy while the US threatens to invade us.

  • Wasn’t the turnout like 66%? I think that’s better than usual, no? Anyway, most of the people who didn’t vote are probably just apolitical, not left wingers.

The point isn’t that there’s some secret reservoir of secret left-wing ideologues the Democrats can tap into, it’s that if you make peoples lives better in a concrete way, not only they tend to vote for you, they become politicized. FDR won three terms by doing that. The Democrats of today would prefer to watch the country slide into fascism than offer anyone anything.

  • Man, I don’t know if there are even going to be elections. If there are, they probably won’t be fair ones. Even if there are elections, and the Democrats win, will they do anything? If history is any guide, they won’t, and there will just be an even more fascist Republican government after them. You’re going to have to try breaking out of this death spiral in some other way than just “voting Democrat, scolding people for criticizing the Democrats”, because it has gone very poorly so far.

Anyway, I think you’re really overestimating how many left wingers there are, period, let alone the amount that didn’t vote and could have made a difference. The Democrats, huge losers, predictably lost. They’ll probably keep doing it. Come up with a new plan.

  • I didn’t allow anything, I’m a Canadian and can’t vote in your elections. I still wouldn’t have been able to bring myself to vote for either of your genocide parties if I could.

I don’t understand why you people have such a vested interest in pretending the democrats are completely blameless for everything. It was their election to lose, and they lost it, because they suck. They could have done something for people when they were in power, they could have offered to do something if they were elected. Instead they did nothing at all! They continue to do nothing aside from say “make sure to vote in the mid-terms!” No attempt to mobilize people, nothing but the most tepid criticisms of the Trump regime. Useless! Yet somehow fools like you just compulsively have to carry water for their pathetic controlled opposition party, despite the fact that they’re responsible for Trump being elected in the first place. What you need is a new party. Until you give up on the Democrats, you’ll never get anywhere.

  • I think I first heard the phrase “rules-based international order” spoken by Trudeau a few years ago, and suddenly it was everywhere. This was the same rules-based international order that killed a million people in Iraq, another million in Vietnam, a few million in Korea, and untold millions more around the world, so it wasn’t hard to determine that it was a lie. Perhaps naming it helped kill the illusion.
