If you leave two seconds of following distance, someone will cut it in half. Some asshole in a lifted pickup will pass you on the right and flip you off, no doubt screaming something about left lane campers. I can’t literally drive through the car in front of me. In a three lane situation in America, generally the outside lane is for trucks and slower traffic, the middle lane is for cruising, and the inside lane is the passing lane you describe. It is unreasonable to expect a car driving the speed limit in the middle lane to move into the truck lane because someone doesn’t want to use the passing lane to pass slower traffic, which is its purpose. In the picture, moving to the right wouldn’t leave a lot of distance for the car that the car in the middle lane just drove past even if that were the right thing to do.

And none of that empowers anyone to create an unsafe situation for other drivers on the road.

We’ve gone from “sex sells” to “hate sells” and yes, that’s the sad side effect. I haven’t used Facebook in ages but I hear it’s not useful for talking to your friends anymore. If such a platform existed I’d go there but I think it would just be you and me.

Not the tourists’ fault, and hating on them demonstrates a lack of civic pride and not much else. I welcome tourists who come to my city for its niche history and the historic mall and the foofy shops who wouldn’t be in business without them.

This place was great when technology ran free. The internet is way way way more controlled than it was 25 years ago. Many folks don’t see it that way because there are billions of people on here now and the control isn’t being done by government censors, but in the end, there’s nothing “running free” in today’s modern internet. If you replace that quote with “My generation realizes that the promise of ‘let billionaires with profit motives run free and everything will be fine’ is not true” sounds like something a moron would say.

There’s a lot to be said for watching sports. Before covid I never watched a baseball game all the way through. Now I’m into it. It’s a fun thing to talk about and enjoy socializing around. I’ve watched all kinds of sports from different countries, all around the clock, with people I’d never interact with otherwise. It really brings people together in a community.

Which ones? I’m not seeing that.

On the internet, you get people pretending to not understand things in every context as if walking around slackjawed and clueless talking about all the things they don’t understand with some kind of aloof and detached attitude makes them better than everyone else.
