I introduced my son to that movie two weeks ago. He loved it.
Like Wallace and Gromit but instead of cheese it’s biscuits.

1·8 days agoThat happened to me, but it’s a block in the town centre. Houses next door, full on broadband. Flat, nope. BT lines. Connection wasn’t very stable. I gave up on it and bought a 5G broadband hub. It works amazing.

I see what you mean after looking at it for a while. Now it looks like a chicken wish bone shape leg to leg glued on to one large leg coming from her lower waist

4·12 days agoWe try to teach our kids not to lie but then lie to them about Santa. When they question sensible ideas like we don’t have a chimney some other made up lie comes out, prolonging the deception.
I do agree. Also in my company (manufacturing) IT seems to be seen as a knowledge resource. People ask questions which isn’t really IT, its more like “how do I do this part of my job which my predecessor didn’t explain or document in any shape or form”.
Yes, I love it. We now have a basic Peugeot but before that a 2004 Nissan Xtrail. It was so basic even for 2004. I loved it for that reason. It was just a car. It did have automatic AC, temp control, and a few other controls like diff lock but the user interface was minimal.
For me it would be about putting a tiny amount of effort in. He’s now a step up from Onslow.

Ask UK@feddit.uk•Dumb question, but do you still go on walks when it gets dark around 4pm?English
3·29 days agoThe walk I like to go on takes me by the sea. Sometimes when it’s in the minus temperature there’s this effect where a sort of low level mist comes from the land and moves over the sea. It’s like a layer of cloud but moving like a fluid but only a few cm high. It’s hypnotizing.

Ask UK@feddit.uk•Dumb question, but do you still go on walks when it gets dark around 4pm?English
2·29 days agoYes. I prefer walking in the dark/winter. I like to go on long walks, my favourite route takes me over a lifting bridge, through some quiet back streets then on to unlit country park with grass land and wooded areas. It gets dark in the wooded areas so I take my flashlight with me. All this circles around a bay so there is fresh sea air most of the time (apart from one part where it stinks when the tide is out)
That’s the big word I couldn’t remember. I didn’t know apples were the same but that really makes sense now.
I listened to a podcast recently about potatoes. The ones in Europe are all one species. They can’t grow variants from seeds because they have 4 chromosomes which means growing from seeds doesn’t give the same variant. They are basically clones. If a variant is lost it cannot be brought back, it’s gone for good.
I never knew how interesting potatoes are!
That was a well explained reply, thanks!
Or that we are quite literally apes.
I did photography at college a few years before digital technology took off. The old dodge and burn was way more fun. There was no undo button so you had to remember what gets done where and keep refining the print. It took ages. And the chemical smells were amazing!
Thank you. I thought it was a NAS device. I was wondering what the hype was about.

That was the same for me. I didn’t realise I had high anxiety especially around people interaction. I just went with what people told me, that I’m introverted. It took me way too long to figure this out and I only did so because my anxiety was getting worse and about more things. Once I was on medication I realised holy shit, I needed this like 20 years ago!
I’m now able to join clubs, meet in large groups. But like you it’s now a choice. I generally do the social thing then leave or take some time out when batteries are low.
