Board Games@sopuli.xyz•What boardgame, or mechanic in a boardgame, do you find so clever in its simplicity?English
4·3 months agoIn Unearth, the goal is to have enough points via die rolls on a card when a threshold is met to win the card. So higher rolls are generally better.
But, if you have poor luck, and roll below a 3, you get a little token that lets you buy other cards.
If you have the world’s worst luck, and never roll above a 3, there’s a good chance you can win the game through those other cards!

19·3 months agoI want something that causes locked-in syndrome and a long ventilator-assisted life.
Maybe then he’ll realize that yes, everyone does, in fact, hate him. And even the cowards he surround himself with will do it straight to his face for once.

Wikipedia@lemmy.world•Idaho stop (Should bikes stop at stop signs?)English
1·3 months agoAnecdotal, but I just saw a bicyclist run a flagger paddle in a construction zone thinking it was a yield. Almost get creamed by oncoming traffic. So it probably shouldn’t be treated as a yield at all because people are too dumb when it comes to inconsistent rules.
Meanwhile, the company has raked in record profits year after year, but nothing below C-suite and shareholder has seen a dime of it.

What kind of jobs do you think fascists work? Military & Police are rife with them. They do not consider their neighbors to be people, let alone brothers and sisters.
Fascists only follow laws that let them subdue or kill others. Everything else is undermined or ignored eventually.
Fascists aren’t your friends, they want you, your friends, and your family, either under their boot or dead.

Technology@lemmy.world•Hertz' AI System That Scans for "Damage" on Rental Cars Is Turning Into an Epic DisasterEnglish
29·4 months agoJust spit balling here, but they probably tune the AI for different thresholds between return and rent out so that they can rake in the damage fees for things that “weren’t there” during the first AI scan.

Here’s the Wikipedia article on them: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/Electrolyte
For simplicity’s sake, they are salts, acid, or bases that can suspend themselves in a polar liquid, like water, and can conduct electricity.
They help maintain the body’s ability to hydrate, and are critical in maintaining nerve and muscle functions, since they are electric tissues.
It’s also the main electrolyte ingredient in a few electrolyte drinks.

If FedEx is short for Federal Express, and UPS is short for United Postal Service
Does anyone know what DHL is short for?
My best guess is Dyslexic Letter Handlers!
