Give it time. You get used to it. Eventually, you will probably type more accurately than you did before. A qwerty or any full keyboard like that does not belong on a small screen. :-)

News@lemmy.world•Shunned in computer age, cursive makes a comeback in California
8·2 years agoI’m 40 and our teacher explained why cursive was a thing in elementary school. I figured we were learning it so we could sign our name.
Take computers out of the picture. How long have we been using ballpoint pens? Cursive was obsolete even before computers took over how we write.

News@lemmy.world•X will begin charging new users $1 a year to access key features including the ability to tweet and retweet.
7·2 years agoAnd he will do that for you at the low price of only $1. Better do it now before the price goes up.

Android@lemdro.id•Xenomorph Android malware now targets U.S. banks and crypto wallets
4·2 years agoWith Lineage OS, you probably can. It also seems to becoming more logical for common users to wipe and reinstall occasionally. Not that it is easy to do. It just seems like a lot of malware is hitting phones and that is likely to get worse.

News@lemmy.world•California workers who cut countertops are dying of an incurable disease
19·2 years agoThat is sad to hear. I live in an area where almost no one wore masks. Even at the hight of the pandemic. Our local pharmacies got a bunch of N95s for free to give away free. There was supposed to be a limit but since no one was using them they would give me a lot of extra. I’m guessing they still have boxes stacked up somewhere.
Its also sad that this could have probably been prevented by using a wet saw with water hooked up. Anyone who has cut stone once without a wet saw walks away knowing they shouldn’t have been breathing that.

News@lemmy.world•Strange light phenomenon seen before some earthquakes is a long-standing mystery. Here’s what scientists think it means
5·2 years agoI did not see a video in the article. Here is a video of the lights on msn. I can’t figure out how to get an English page on there. Sorry.
Awesome! I found out this worked for me years ago when I was a lone dev. I would walk around muttering to myself. Glad to know there is a term I can use now!
Sometimes I step away from the screen and talk out is happening in my head.
Often times my coworkers and I will ask each other for help. Much of the time the person explaining will see the problem as they explain it to the other person. Usually before the other person has a chance to get the full explanation.

Android@lemmy.world•Which is the least no fuss mainstream phone manufacture?
1·2 years agoMost phone manufactures create their own version of Android. Usually they are pretty full of useless junk and a ton of UI changes. By saying “mostly Android” you’re urually saying “mostly [original] Android”.

I dropped it for the Fediverse. I decided to use kbin after trying Lemmy for a bit.

LiminalSpace@lemmy.world•This was always super liminal to me because you're in this position so rarely and only for a moment.
181·2 years agoI haven’t been on a plane in about 10 years. That moment in this space is a great example of a liminal space. Your post brought me right to that feeling of being on the plane but not being on the plane.

News@lemmy.world•Huntington Beach City Council approves banning mask and vaccine mandates
31·2 years agoWhere I live, there were mandates but no one enforced it and no one cared. During the worst of the pandemic it was odd to see someone with a mask. Some stores would have a sign saying you would not be allowed in unless you had a mask. Then you get in and no one had a mask on, not even employees.
I wonder what it was like in Huntington Beach.

[Outdated, please look at pinned post] Casual Conversation@lemmy.world•I've been blocking ads for so long that actually seeing them feels perverse
2·2 years agoWhat a great way to put it. Years ago my wife was annoyed when I started blocking ads because it was effecting streaming on some apps. Now if an ad gets through look out!
When we see ads, it is so annoying. Page loads are clunky and games blast you with ads.

The downloads list suddenly won’t load anymore. I was going to get the last version before they added the notice to get pro.
