Well I won’t even bother writing an answer because that wins by default. Holy shit.

Basil is 5.99 at my grocery store today.

I like the idea of owning a basil plant. But you can’t plant it in winter weather and they’re impossible to keep alive inside, I find.

I feel like people who support this type of politics are emotionally blunted and stunted. They’ll use his death as a tool of martyrdom for their movement, which this is a prime example of, but I don’t really feel like anyone loved him or mourned him in any genuine sense. I think it’s because they don’t really have any attachment to anyone in a real sense. I’m not saying that other people of other beliefs don’t use grief as a performative tool either, but I feel like most of the problem with conservatives at the root of it all is blunted emotions.

I’m so, so anal about them. I realized recently that people that got vaccinated only in 2021 that they’re basically unvaccinated now and God knows what they’ll spread.

Everyone does, and we have some queer and trans congregants too. Our official position is that we welcome all queer people in every way. Actually a bunch of people at another church left and joined us because that church came out as non-affirming of queer people.

Does that work for Google Play books? Is it an app?

Almost everything on Amazon is cheap trash, and they promote the hell out of all that trash instead of products of any quality. I am also so sick of the click funnels where you search for a specific item and they just give you pages full of knockoff trash as search results even if you go to a specific brand store. It’s nonsense.

I’m a practicing Christian and go to church every week. I also think homophobes are shitheads who don’t deserve the love and mercy of God.

The biblical scholar Walter Bruggeman wrote a great essay on the interpretation of homophobic biblical verses that is really good (https://outreach.faith/2022/09/walter-brueggemann-how-to-read-the-bible-on-homosexuality/).

But also just plain old have some common sense that the people of the ancient world didn’t have the same insight we do into human attraction and sexuality, and we can grow and evolve and know better. Also, even if you don’t agree with people being queer, you also have the ability to shut your mouth about it and keep it to yourself, and be the loving Christian you profess to be no matter what your personal beliefs are, and you have no right to tell people who to love, period.

I think the best music has kind of a poetic nature to it; like Neko Case’s music. I want the lyrics to make images light up in my head.

I’m glad!

It’s an acquired taste, and honestly some of it that is critically acclaimed does nothing for me. But when I find ones that really do it for me it’s such a joy. Glad you’re joining the team.
