I aim to be more human. I aim to be less apathetic as a human. Apathy grows, like a tree, and I aim to prune my own.

  • I have these for all my chargeable things. Bought like 4 packs with multiple port types, so I have tons of extra cables in case some die. They are great for game controllers, phones, tablets, rechargeable keyboards, and all sorts of other shit. All you need is multiple ends, and you can use the same cables for everything. It’s glorious if you have a mix of port types.

  • I have a similar story from 2001, 8th grade science fair.

One of the kids had a seismograph (parents) one had some bacteria thing (probably also parents, that kid was as dumb as the contents of his petri dishes) they all looked super professional and stuff and were obviously shit from books or the internet.

I fucked around for weeks in class doing basically nothing and the night before threw together a hand written display with some info I looked up, painted a balloon and pvc pipe with paint, and stuck it on. The “project” was about the impact of static on heavy machinery and the idea of applying an insulating coating to reduce static buildup and transference on machine parts, displayed via balloon, pipe, and latex paint. Totally original idea (to me, anyway) and research and they thought it was great even tho it looked like complete shit.

Have you read the sword of truth series by terry goodkind? Easily my favorite fantasy series, however there are 17 books in the core series, 21 total. I was also a bookworm and it killed me waiting for new releases…

The rifters trilogy by Peter watts is great surreal sci-fi, and freely available (he released it free on his own website, as well as ebook download)

  • The only pickles I’ll even consider are bread and butter or sweet and spicy. Which directly translates, in my neck of the woods, to no pickles.

Dill is awful. I don’t like it in anything, ever. And the number of people offended by that is too damned high!

My partner makes some killer fermented pickles without dill, which also aren’t sweet, so that’s also an option (that nobody ever takes 😭)

  • That tracks.

I’ve been getting Botox for migraines for over a decade and I mentioned to my neurologist how this seems to have impacted my personality. He was unsurprised.

When your face does things without your input, you might find yourself feeling angry or sad or something, and not actually know why. We have some pretty good mirror neurons that make us share physical signals with other people, and we take on their emotional state sometimes as a result.

13-some years ago I started getting Botox for migraines, and my neurologist is…. Thorough. He likes doing a bit extra for cosmetic reasons… not with me; I actively decline cosmetic injections, even when he asks about my lopsided expressions (nah dude, that’s just how I use my face -lopsided- and I genuinely like those use lines; they tell you who I am. I’m not trying to look young forever as my body degrades around me…). I need some of my expressions, like anger and confusion…

But I noticed after my deep forehead wrinkles faded (when I was 25… so not normal age stuff) that I’m just calmer in general without the full range of expressions. I don’t get flustered the way I used to. It’s like paralyzing my facial muscles dulled my response to things that would normally elicit a strong emotional response.

This is obviously anecdotal, but it really convinces me that emotions are as much about bodily response as actual response.

  • I feel like if it was easy for him to get rid of the existing ones, he probably would…

Tho he got his kids vaxed and refused to answer if he’d do it again so there’s some chance he’s just being a disingenuous prick and fucking over millions for personal gain… wouldn’t put that past a single “conservative”

(Wild how in the wider world conservation means protecting things that exist, while American conservatism actively seeks to destroy everything that has existed for decades… wild…)

  • I have no idea, I have prosopagnosia (face blindness) so I don’t bother trying to sort out who is in a given photo. Either way if this pic isn’t from around the 80s, super dated style :)

That’s why I go for basic cuts, solid colors, and timeless patterns. Like this dude (cage or otherwise) I refuse to update my wardrobe to keep up with fleeting fashion. I haven’t grown in 20+ years, why do I need new clothes?Unlike this dude I found a way to make that work without being a sore thumb (even when my hair was pink and purple and people could see me from half a mile away, I felt more comfortable than I’d feel in those clothes)

Unfortunately leapord print and patent leather don’t qualify as timeless. They are very dated. Fashion is cyclical, and we haven’t come back to patent leather or leopard print in a solid while (tho with all the leopards eating faces recently I feel like this is the time to bring back leopard print, if ever!) Especially the shiny pants. Even in the 90s those were outdated.

Now I’m imaging him as the sole person (outside of gimp suit users) who wants that wet black look, and paying through the nose to have new pants made… probably all true, too. Now I’m a bit sad.
