One of my favorite media personalities today is James O’Brien, who hosts a news commentary and phone-in radio show. He’s well-known, but not so much in America.

A lot of his highlights are him simply asking people to explain themselves, and in the process it becomes obvious that (1) they cannot explain themselves because they don’t understand what they’re talking about, and (2) the explanation begins to circle around, because it is obvious that it’s based in racism, but they cannot actually say it’s racism.

And where is the love for authoritarian regimes, oligarchs and hate for democracy?

Lots of western authoritarianism is ultimately motivated by racism. Can’t let Those People get political power, they’ll be angry about how we’ve been mistreating them.

For the authoritarian leaders, it’s just a tool. Because it’s easier to convince people, that enemy is withing, and you can recognize it just by the skin color, or the ways of living.

That’s why racism, nationalism, etc are used so often.
