So actually this caused quite a bit of chaos this past Friday. Folks who were traveling, say on a quick weekend holiday, suddenly found out that they had to rush back into the US before midnight. Then the administration walked it back, so some of these people who paid premium for last minute flights are now SOL. Another example of how not to run an administration.

Tbh this is probably his only good idea so far.
Especially because it’s telling those visa holders that the company was willing to pay 100k just to hire them, so if they’re taking $60k as salary they’re probably getting fucked.
It also gives the company incentive to treat them with respect. All around I don’t think there’s any real downside to it, a voluntary tax that encourages actually using H1Bs as they’re meant to be used.
Beyond the “states shouldn’t exist and borders are made up nationalist bullshit” angle anyways.
