Just saw this Charlie Kirk video telling Taylor Swift to ‘submit’ to her husband. And it hit me, Muslim extremists and Christian extremists (like MAGA types) have so much in common.
Both push the idea that women should have no agency. Both cherry-pick scripture to justify control. Imo, the difference is in the West, society pushes back, so Christian extremists can’t fully enforce their agenda. In Muslim countries though, Salafis/ Wahhabis are often backed by governments and their own communities, which gives them power.
Another major issue is HADITHS. They were compiled over 200 years after the Prophet, but extremists put them above the Qur’an. So, I’d say hadith is Islam’s version of the Bible: a mix of human additions that got canonized.
These are just my thoughts btw.
It’s the same mental processes that finds recognition in the abrahamic stories. Not knowing who you are. Not having an instinct on morality. Finding it difficult to live life without having a parent to please.
It just depends on the person’s context whether they go for roman catholic/bysantine/kahan/wahhabi/ghulat/…
That man’s head is irregular.
Few corrections tho, salafi / wahhabism is only official in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Other Muslim governments sponsor Madhabbism, which is just as conservative.
Secondly, no salafi says hadith is above Qur’an. That’s a straw man to be frank. Muslims say it’s equal to Qur’an. Both salafis and madhabbis rank it equivalent to Qur’an.
The Qur’an also was fully standardized 18 years after the prophet died, not immediately.
