Telling people to “calm down” always has the desired effect. It is known. 😄

And yet when China is even rumoured to be influencing Americans it’s wild-flappy-arm-huffing-and-puffing time.

There were reports America was gonna offer everyone $10,000 for Greenland.

America has the money to easily offer every citizen of Greenland $5,000,000. If it were me I’d take that and move to Norway or something. But of course they weren’t prepared to offer more than chump change to the few thousand people there so they went straight to espionage.

Like, Trump could easily make a pretty good deal from America’s perspective. There’s basically nobody there. But he’s choosing coercion.

“Calm down! We only want your minerals. You can keep your shithole country.” (trump, or one of his minions, probably).

Time to join Elbows Up if you haven’t. We are calm as we can be here in Canada and still inflict pain on the USA.

Denmark used to be one of the most pro-American countries in Europe, effectively having no foreign policy of their own but just jumping after the Americans.

It has been really pathetic to watch, but at least now their shaken out of their dumb american dream and forced to wake up. I imagine they will take some time to really put together a response as they haven’t had an independent thought about foreign policy since before the war, but the damage caused here to the US is effectively that they lost one of their by far most loyal allies on the international stage, and I don’t see them ever coming back.

As for moves to boycott US products and more popular resistance I haven’t seen much about it in the streets. I’m hoping it’ll come.

Sounds like Canada! We woke up big time. Still room for improvement but my guess is at least 30% of Canadian are pretty much done with the USA for good. Travel is dropping, American produce in store is rotting (I have never seen US strawberries on sale that cheap!). Follow our lead haha.

          Travel is dropping

Anecdotal, but I just returned from a very pleasant Canadian vacation and the return flight was the emptiest I’ve ever seen an airport. Zero line to check my bag, zero line to go through security, zero line to go through customs. Many empty seats on the flight itself. It was eerie. I wonder how much longer Air Canada is going to offer that flight…

Canada (Quebec City) was beautiful and charming. The people were friendly, the weather was perfect, the food was delicious, the politics were sane. Sigh. If any Canadians reading this are hiring software engineers, drop me a DM…

Texas, the state I happened to be born in. My family is all here, or I probably would have left by now. Austin, for what it’s worth. A rare blue area in a sea of MAGA.

Oh ok so the quiet flight is going to the US back and forth. That tracks. Sorry but we Canadians feel like the USA left us no choice but boycott.

Btw Austin was always on the top of my list for destinations but I guess it won’t happen now 😔

It was the same when I left Vancouver for a meeting in the USA right as this all kicked off. US customs was empty, and they didn’t challenge anything (like they used to) almost like they knew they needed tourism so didn’t want to turn anyone away

Air Canada (and Westjet) has already deleted a number of routes to the US.
