HGIBO Gundam Vidar
Super fun kit, as long as you go in expecting to do some painting. Gundam Color Phantom Gray and Gundam Marker Metallic Red were all I needed (besides my panel lining fluid), and I’m pretty happy with the result.
That said, any tips on how to apply the metallic Gundam markers more evenly?

That panel lining really makes that kit pop. I might go back and add it to my kit because yours looks so good.
@Awkwardparticle Thank you! Those shoulder bits just don’t look right to me without a heavy layer of panel lining fluid, and the triangle on the chest is basically invisible without it. Can recommend.
The short answer for metallic Gundam markers is you don’t. If you get brush tip markers, you can get a more even coverage, but it’s still difficult. You can also draw some of the paint out of the marker onto a dish or palette and apply with a brush.
I moved away from Gundam markers pretty quickly because they’re hard to coat evenly outside of detailing.
For metallic colors I use Sharpies, which I’ve found to have way more even coverage on large surfaces. It does tend to rub off much more easily without topcoat, though.
I use Dspiae or Sharpie for my paint marker needs now. I much prefer the brush tips over the hard plastic tips like the Gundam markers use.
Dspiae does make a nice marker
The silver one worked so well on the pistons, but any large flat surfaces or textured surfaces were a challenge. I had to try 3 times to get the spots on the waist armor somewhat decent looking. Almost gave up and used Vallejo Scarlet instead (I only have 6 colors of Mr Hobby available to me, and Shine Red isn’t one of them).
The metallic Gundam markers won’t look even unless you spray it. That why I was talking about the gm airbrush the other day. You can make it look good but the paint is very fragile. It chips easy and even rubs off when handling. It also changes in appearance with topcoat.
All the red on this is XGM03 marker sprayed with air
I painted a kit with only metallic Gundam markers once. While it did work, the end result is… a result. I’ll see if I can pull it out and get some pics.
