4 days agoNot sure what the canon says, but it really seems like blaster bolts travel considerably more slowly than a high power rifle bullet, so I’d still pick the slug thrower.

121·5 days agoIts wild that they have lost all the guile and subtlety that used to let them get away with pretending that this shit isn’t what it is. When did “The Israel Palestine issue is complex and there are clear arguments and atrocities on both sides that require a nuanced approach to solutions” turn into “You cannot be against murdering babies because those dirty Muslim babies don’t count, your an antisemite.”
Like yeah, we always kind of knew that those were the same thing, but now they aren’t even pretending.

Because the vast majority of Western nations (including the US) consider it to be a war crime to deliberately make a military strike against survivors of an attack that pose no active threat.
Even that assumes that the original strike has military merit in the first place, which isn’t really the case when they are blowing up unarmed boats that might or might not be carrying drugs.
I guess some of these people expect to still be around in a couple years when there is a new administration that might feel like it’s a good idea to prosecute people for crimes they committed for trump.

Right, except the problem is that it creates a very easy argument under which everyone involved COULD be prosecuted. Probably not by THIS DOD, but we still have elections in America and this makes it easy for the next bunch.
Ordering that operations be conducted on the basis that there be “no survivors” is also specifically cited as an example of a war crime by the same manual: “Moreover, it is also prohibited to conduct hostilities on the basis that there shall be no survivors, or to threaten the adversary with the denial of quarter.”
The manual is the interpretation of the meaning of existing laws. Its not new law and changing the manual doesn’t change the law. And neither Hesgeth or Trump have the authority to change those laws just because they want to.

My stepson works for Costco. They are a fantastic employer compared to other retailers. They also do legitimately promote from within, including for business office professional positions.

11·5 days agoSure, but if I built a 14 inch demo saw with no guard and got the government to give me permission to give it to kindergartners and then got everyone’s boss to REQUIRE theie workers to use it for everything from slicing sandwiches to open heart surgery, I think you might agree that it’s a problem.
Oh yeah, also it takes like 20% of the worlds energy to run these saws, and I got the biggest manufacturer of knives and regular saws to just stop selling everything but my 14 inch demolition saw.
Sure, unless you have a device capable of running linux that has a touch screen and integrated controller. Like, i don’t know, some kind of deck for running steam?
